The London Paper
So one little thing I really love about London is the daily free paper. It’s MEANT for people like me with little patience for papers and short attention spans. Smaller than a normal paper, good amusement for the tube.
One column I was really taken with is called Lovestruck – Change your fate, on thelondonlove page.
Here’s some of the things in it:
<3 To the larger lady wearing shades and fishnets on the Circle line. You may have taken up two seats but you took up an even bigger space in my heart. I would love to buy you a drink. DAVE
<3 To Simon from Camden who admired my boots in John Lewis. You caught me by surprise so i said no to coffee, but now I wish I’d said yes. Can i take a rain check? ALEX
<3 The Secret Garden Party. You were with Badger and gave me a damn good handshake. I would like another thumb war. GIRL IN RED BEANIE
<3 To the bacon dropper in the Streatham Hill Somerfeild. You made my Sunday. Feel free to drop your shopping at my feet again. ANON
<3 We were both laughing at the people dancing in the video at Tate Modern on Sunday afternoon. You had a pink dress on. Drink soon? THE TALL ONE WITH A PAL
<3 We exchanged smiles somewhere between the British Library and King’s X late Tuesday lunchtime. We’ve both got beards, so clearly I should buy you coffee! BEARDY BOY
That last one made me laugh. I love imagining all these people falling a little bit in love in an instant and just thinking about it that much, enough to put it in the paper in the hope the person they’re thinking of reads it..
